In the 1980's, the Army Corps of Engineers completed a Snagging and Clearing project on the Wallkill River to improve drainage and flood protection for the Orange County/Pine Island Black Dirt region. A perpetual Maintenance Agreement requires the project to be inspected and maintained. Partners to the MA are the County of Orange (lead administrator), and the four towns bordering the project (Warwick, Wawayanda, Goshen, and Minisink). Soil and Water acts at the County's agent to manage maintenance activities.
The following is an inspection report completed by Soil and Water. This report will provide guidance to a contractor hired to maintain the project.
